How Great things the Lord hath done for thee!

Mark 5:19 "Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee."
Why was not he accepted to be a disciple?

He was a disciple - but he had a different place in the work than that of doing two visits a day and preaching on Sabbath. He was honoured of God by being given explicit instructions on the work he was to perform.
Every true disciple is born into the kingdom of God as a missionary. DA 195
He was a true disciple with a specific work to do. He was spared the bureaucracy of administration.

Every true disciple should give his all to the specific work he has to do and not just talk about it.
